General surgery
Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Our experienced team provides comprehensive surgical services. General surgery underwent a monumental change with the development of laparoscopic instrumentation and techniques over the past 20 years. This resulted in smaller incisions, less pain, quicker recovery, and shorter hospital stays. The advancement continues with the help of the da Vinci Si robotic system. The da Vinci Si robotic system allows the surgeon to see the operative field in crisp, sharp 3D high definition images versus 2D images on traditional laparoscopic monitors. The surgeon’s vision, control, and precision are substantially improved. Holy Spirit Hospital is on the leading edge of robotic surgery, with a dedicated clinical team and operating suites. Equipped with two individual robotic system consoles, our general surgeons are able to work together to complete difficult and complex operations. We expertly use our da Vinci systems for these health problems:
• Gallbladder – Single-incision and multiport cholecystectomies (gallbladder removal)
• Gastric (stomach) – Removal of gastric tumors and Nissen fundoplication for reflux
• Intestines – Removal of intestinal tumors
• Colon – Resection of colon cancers and diverticular disease
• Hernia – Repair of incisional and ventral hernias

Holy Spirit was one of the first healthcare systems in Pennsylvania to successfully perform a single incision robotic cholecystectomy. We have performed the most single-incision robotic cholecystectomies in this area. We also use the da Vinci system to perform the widest variety of advanced robotic procedures.
